“So far, Tom [Welling] has directed some episodes and Michael [Rosenbaum] has. It was awesome and I can't see it being any different with Alison. She's such a sweetheart and I enjoy working with her so much. Good thing, because I do work with her so much! It is going to be interesting. Sometimes I've asked Alison, just in scenes and stuff, "What do you think about this?" – about playing a scene. And it's great, because she always says, "What do you think?" She doesn't tell you what to do. She says, "Whatever you think." I'm interested to hear her take and have her work as a director, because she's such a great actress. I imagine it's going to be nothing but good news.”

She’s lovely. Allison Mack is one of the most committed actors you will ever find. That girl, if she says she’s going to do something, when she’s performing she gives it everything she’s got. When she’s on set and in character and going, she’s a force man. She is very very talented.

And this is cool for her because this is a side people don’t see, you know after doing Smallville all these years. This girl is a little darker and very very complex, it’s sort of a coming of age thing and you know she, we had to dirty her up a little bit, just to try to make her look, you know how do you make someone like Allison Mack seem remotely dirty and kind of unattractive? Because we needed to, we had scenes were we needed her all dirty and like greasy and then you see her cleaned up and you’re like WHOAH!! But she kinda looks good all the time, so that was a bit of a challenge.

“She was great to work with. A real pro. Everyone really loves Allison."

She has this great, really positive energy. She loves directing. And what’s nice about Allison is she is an actress so she knows where you’re coming from. When somebody is coming from the other side [of the camera], it’s always helpful because they know how to say things in a certain way to help you out.

[On her favorite episode to shoot over the course of the series]
"I really enjoyed 'Power' in season 8 with Allison directing, not only because I got to totally, like, kill someone and have blood splattered on my face, but it was cool to watch Allison, as a co-creator, direct."

[Describing Allison] "Spunky, energy, clutch, seasoned (but that’s not to mean that she’s old, it means that she totally knows what she’s doing)."

"The Uma Thurman needle was really fun (Season 9‘s “Sacrifice“)… Allison (Mack) had to actually jam the thing into my chest and I was wearing this brace so that it didn’t actually hurt. She was so scared about hurting me when she was doing it. And the first time I did the wake-up, I really went for it and she screamed. And I totally went, “You can’t care that much”. And Allison was like, “I don’t understand” (makes whimpering sound). It was super cute."

[On which moment on Smallville she's most fond of] “When we were filming “Checkmate” last year, it happened to be Justin Hartley’s birthday and they brought out this big cake. Allison Mack and one of our production assistants were standing holding the cake. It was raining all night and we had a rain shelter thing, and somebody tipped it right when we were singing happy birthday. All of the water came crashing down on the cake. And Allison. And our production assistant. I actually think Justin couldn’t have asked for a better birthday present because he laughed pretty hard."

“Some of my favorite scenes on the show have been when Chloe and I, not only get to work together, but also get to fight. There was one fight scene last year, that I think we filmed for about eight hours, that was the most fun. I don't think Allison and I stopped laughing the entire time."

[On the success of Chollie] “Obviously, it has a lot to do with the way it was written. I think it has just as much to do with the actors. That sounds really, really selfish but—it’s not all me it’s all her. Allison’s got this way of working with people no matter what they give her. If you are able to give her whatever you have, what you’re going to come out with is amazing. A lot of the stuff that works between Chloe and Oliver, I think it has to do with Allison and Justin. We work really well together. She’s a really good actress, she’s fun, and she’s always in a good mood. We have a lot of chemistry in our scenes. I think because we respect the work so much and we work on it. It’s important to both of us."

[On Allison as a director] “She’s fun! I mean, she’s a royal pain in the ass, but aside from that, she’s terrific. [Laughs] I’ve always said that she’s a smart person, and she did a great job. People are saying it’s great. I told her ‘I’ll apologize in advance for bringing your show down a bit, but even with me in it, it’s pretty good!"

[On Allison directing] “So then Allison comes in and directs this episode and she's so smart, but yet she understands what her grasp of directing is now. OK? So she's not afraid to ask for help or listen to other people or any of that stuff. Which makes her even smarter. Working under her is great also...unfortunately I only get to do two quick little scenes, but one of them is with her. And she's got this way about her. She's really fun to be around and work for. It was really, really great. We're lucky. We have a great cast. Everybody likes each other and there's never a big ego thing going on, you know what I mean? Everyone's there for the baby."

[On working with Tom Welling and Allison Mack] "I had a really good time on the show. They were both very laid-back, and working with them was fun. It was great."

“She was just cool. O yes, best story about Allison. A friend of mine just recently won this Netflix film independent find your voice competition and he's directing his first feature film at the end of the year [...]. When I found out I was going up to Vancouver and doing this he said "dude, I will bring you Red velvet cake whenever you want for the rest of your life, if you get Allison Mack to leave me a voicemail" [...] I talked to Allison about it. I wrote her a very charming and witty note and explained the whole deal. I was like "look if you don't feel comfortable with this I totally understand but Red velvet cake is at steak here and if you call my friend Phil and leave him a voicemail. And she did. Yeah, best ever!"

"I didn't get to work with Allison Mack that much, because she was really sick during the first few days I was shooting, but she was a trooper. She'd be lying down, they would call for her, and she'd get up to act. It showed a lot of professionalism on her part."
