Smallville fans, consider this bullet officially dodged: Multiple sources confirm to me exclusively that after weeks of tense negotiations, Allison Mack has sealed a deal to return next season as a series regular!

Ausiello today in his online colum:

Question: I read your story about Allison Mack possibly not re-signing for Smallville next season. What's the latest? — Marta

Ausiello: Talks are still at a stand-still. That's the bad news. The good news is that production doesn't resume until July, so the situation isn’t all that dire… yet. One Smallville insider speculates that Mack may ultimately take a page from co-star Kristin Kreuk's book and return for only a handful of episodes. It's not ideal, but it certainly beats the alternative: no Chloe at all. BTW, many of you have written in asking whether you should read anything into the fact the CW, in its upfront press release yesterday, left Mack's name off the Smallville's cast list, and the answer is, well, let's ask the CW: "We are in talks with her," responds a network rep. "Hopefully she will return next season."

It seems like we just have to wait and see people.

The CW has released its schedule for 2008-2009, and released a press release
with info about Smallville's next season.

The series stars Tom Welling as Clark Kent, Kristin Kreuk as Lana Lang,
Erica Durance as Lois Lane and Aaron Ashmore as Jimmy Olsen.

It's worth noting that both Allison Mack and Laura Vandervoort are missing from the season 8 cast list.
Allison is not even mentioned in the whole press release.

Does this mean that Allison will not be back?
Still nothing official, the CW states that they are "still in negotiations",
and they hope Allison will be back next season.

TV guide's Michael Ausiello reports in this weeks Ausiello report that:

"unless there was a major development between Mack and WB negotiations in the last 48 hours there is a very real chance Smallville will be Chloe-less next season."

He also states that "having seen this weeks Smallville finale the show wont have any problem explaining Chloe's absence next season, should they be forst to go down that road."

Remember that there has not been any OFFICIAL news to confirm these statements,
and that Ausiello has been wrong before.

Lets keep our hopes up and keep sending those save Chloe postcards!
